An orphan, Cecil was raised like a son by the King of Baron, along with Kain. He is the captain of Baron's elite Red Wings. A powerful warrior, he is the single character that is always present in your party. His versatility with weapons ensures that no matter what situation you may find yourself in, you probably have a weapon he can equip to meet it.

Cecil's DWave attack, available only in the Hardtype version of the game, is like the Darkside command of later Final Fantasy games. Using DWave drains 10% of Cecil's Max HP in order to inflict a more powerful attack. As a Paladin, Cecil has access to a limited range of White Magic--Cure1, Cure2, Esuna/Remedy, Scan/Peep, Sight, and Exit. His Cover command enables him to take damage in place of another party member. Cecil will automatically Cover party members who are near KO, regardless of his own HP, so keep an eye on him.
