Valefor

How to Acquire: Complete the Cloister of Trials at Besaid Temple.

Valefor's main statistic is his Accuracy--he can hit basically anything. His special attack, Sonic Wings, damages a single enemy and delays its next turn. Although Sonic Wings isn't powerful, the delay aspect allows you to basically keep hitting an enemy with the same attack over and over, and it will almost never get a turn. Valefor also comes with all of the low-level elemental spells (Fire, Water, Blizzard, and Thunder.)

Valefor's Overdrive, Energy Ray, strikes all enemies for non-elemental damage. Like all Overdrives, it has a long recovery time. If you speak to the child with the dog in Besaid (after Yuna joins your party), you can receive an item that will enable him to also use the Overdrive Energy Blast. Energy Blast is more powerful, but takes a longer time to recover than Energy Ray.

Acquiring Yuna's Nirvana Weapon and adding the Moon Crest to it with the Celestial Mirror will allow you to break Valefor's damage limit of 9999.
