Anima

How to Acquire: You must have found all six of the Temple Items in the Cloister of Trials. (The treasures are the Rod of Wisdom in Besaid, the Red Armlet in Kilika, the Magic Sphere in Djose, the Luck Sphere in Macalania, the Knight Lance in Bevelle, and the Magistral Rod in Zanarkand Dome. If you missed these the first time through, you may return to any temple except Bevelle to get them.) Go to the hidden location Baaj Temple (coordinates are X: 11-16, Y: 57-63) and fight Geosagaeno. After defeating him, enter the temple and examine each of the six statues. If you've gotten all 6 Temple Items, you will be allowed into the Chamber of the Fayth, and can acquire the powerful, but frightening, Anima.

Anima's special attack, Pain, has a high chance of causing instant death to an enemy, but either way, it's a powerful attack. Anima is darkness-elemental, which means she's particularly weak against Holy. She comes with the full set of elemental spells plus Bio and Death, and the skills Dark Attack, Sleep Attack, Silence Attack, Dark Buster, Sleep Buster, and Silence Buster.

Anima's Overdrive, Oblivion, has what I consider absolutely the most terrifying, horrible animation for an attack in the history of the Final Fantasy series. It's also very powerful, and inflicts several non-elemental attacks on all enemies.

Like Bahamut, Anima comes with her damage limit pre-broken.
